Welsh Highland - or Cwmcoediog

Laurie Wright has a distinct advantage over many of us in that he actually lives in West Wales, and so can capitalise on the authentic climate for his railway! Few other lines that I have seen manage to capture that distinctive verdant wetness of the Welsh countryside so well. Given a very difficult site, Laurie has resorted to major earthworks, and the result is superb cuttings such as this one, which could so easily be a view of the real Welsh Higland Railway towards the end of its life. The use of the vertical dimension makes a huge difference to his railway, and the overgrown track is stunning. Laurie Wright/Ian Stock
